Mike Muñoz; MT-BC, DIR-C – Founder/CEO & Clinical Director – Once Upon A Song

Mike founded Once Upon A Song in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. His no-quit, dreamers mindset helped him to push through the challenges that he faced during this difficult time and create something beautiful out of it. Mike studied Music Therapy at Molloy College where he earned his B.S. degree and became board-certified as a music therapist. He later earned his certification as a DIR-Floortime practitioner through ICDL. Mike has worked in many different populations from private clinics to hospitals like Bellevue, to child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry, but has spent most of his career helping children and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders work their way up the developmental ladder. Mike has been a part of international research studies on Autism such as the “Time-A” study, and has practiced Music Therapy abroad in London at the Nordoff-Robins clinic (where he also trained), at New Horizons Day Clinic, and in Portugal. He has also presented his work at national conferences and continues to strive to make the world a better place through music and play! “Here at Once Upon A Song, we believe in working with the whole person, not just surface-level behaviors. We believe that the key component in any successful Therapy intervention is the relationship between the therapist and client” -Mike
